Passage 5

In plain words

On the day the Ahaṅkāra of ‘I am teaching’ comes, on that day he is lower than the lowest. When I teach the children, the feeling must come, ‘I am learning.’ A teacher who teaches children must go on learning all his life. So the true student is the teacher himself. If we hold such a feeling, we can achieve anything at all.

Teachers! It is not unknown to you what twisted path the system of education in the world is taking today. That is why the teachers in the Sathya Sai institutions must strengthen right faith in a fitting way, keep your instruments under control in your sādhanas, and make the right effort to teach. In these seven or eight days you are here, let us discuss each day the doubts you have and the matter of which path to follow for right progress; learn some remedies, and through them take the chances fit for living a free life, without fear, without care, with selfishness rooted out. Only when we recognise Satya does fearlessness enter us. Today, because we cannot recognise Satya, doubts, fear and the lack of freedom keep arising. Satya has no fear. Untruth works fast. But we must not take it up.

There is a saying in Telugu. ‘While Satya is putting on its sandals, untruth goes round the world and comes back.’ Untruth travels very fast. But we have no need of that speed. Slow and steady wins the race. From tomorrow, for the doubts in you or to learn what you need to know, you have freedom with Swami. So make good use of this chance and rid yourselves of your doubts.
