Passage 15

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The roots that support the tree are confidence. Without roots below to support it and fruits above, life is firewood. We must earn what is called character in the form of the fruit. Self-confidence must be your roots.

Where there is confidence, there is Love

Where there is Love, there is Peace

Where there is Peace, there is Truth

Where there is Truth, there is Bliss

Where there is Bliss, there is GOD. So without this confidence we cannot achieve even the smallest thing.

Girl students! First of all, control your five senses well.

See no evil, hear no evil

Think no evil, do no evil

Talk no evil

See what is good, hear what is good

Think what is good, do what is good

Talk what is good

This is the way to GOD. We must make the effort needed to know this truth. Whenever one looks, nothing but bad looks! Those are a crow's looks. However many things there are, the crow, they say, looks only at what has rotted. Yet even that crow: "Kāvu, kāvu: O God! Save me!" it cries, they say. But man does not say even that. Though we think the crow a lowly creature, it has some spirit of sacrifice. It has a broad feeling for society. If it sees a handful of grains anywhere, it does not gobble them up thinking "I have found it"; it calls many crows. It eats along with them. If an ant finds something sweet anywhere, it does not eat it up and fill its belly. It goes into the anthill, calls all the ants, and eats that sweet juice along with them. Today there is an equal feeling among ants and crows. That is why Tyāgarāja, singing "In the ant, in Brahmā, in Śiva, Keśava and the rest", taught the truth that the principle of Brahman is present equally in the ant and in Brahmā.
