In plain words
So by taking refuge in such gurus we cannot experience our own svarūpa. And among them, today they are turning into even stranger gurus. Telling a mantra in the ear, taking money in the hand. These gurus have sunk into this trade in mantras. Neither by mantras nor by tantras do we attain divinity in the least. Only when we cleanse this impurity hardened in the mind will the holy power of the mantra come to us. That is why: Cittasya śuddhaye karmaḥ. Today we must perform all our karmas for the sake of purifying the citta. With faith of this kind we must live our daily life. Whatever we do, whatever we see, whatever we say, whatever we hear, we must hear, do and see it with faith in God. Sarvamu viṣṇumayaṃ jagat sarvaṃ saṅkalpamayaṃ viṣṇumayaṃ. So there is no difference between Viṣṇu and thought. This good thought itself is the form of Viṣṇu. Viṣṇu is not only the bearer of conch, discus and mace; the power of consciousness that pervades everywhere is Viṣṇu. Through worldly Purāṇas we believe only in worldly desires, believe only in worldly feelings, and drown in the worldly alone. Divinity is present in all. There is no body without it. So we must develop the faith that God is present in all. Whomever we harm, whomever we hurt, whomever we cause pain, we must believe that we cause it to God Himself.
Thinking there is Śānti in this world, we struggle in many ways. Śānti is not in the world. Śānti is in you alone. A small example. We camp somewhere, in some town. For ten days' work we go into a hotel. First of all, we go looking for a hotel that serves the food we eat. In front of a hotel there is some name. It says, ‘Brahmin Hotel.’ He looked to the other side. It says, ‘Military Hotel.’ Now, if he is a vegetarian, he goes into the brahmin hotel. Seeing this name. If he is at all a meat-eater, he goes into the military hotel. Instead, if without looking at the name he goes into the military hotel and says, ‘Bring me sāmbār and rasam,’ will that fellow give it?
