In plain words

So when one says, ‘He is there, He is there,’ one attains the feeling of oneness and receives realisation. However many obstacles come to this faith, we must keep going forward without stepping back. Through this we will attain the true power of the Ātma. We will experience Ānanda. We will give Ānanda to the country. But otherwise, is He there or not, is He there or not: this is saṃśayātma vinaśyati. We must not ruin life with doubts. One who has this doubt falls low in every way. For any single thing at all, we must experience a power. For such courage and daring we must nourish a certain kind of trust. Without trust we cannot experience anything. So in daily life we live our lives by trust alone. If we have no trust at all that we will lay the foundation of some house today and hold its opening next year, we cannot lay even the foundation. In the morning we put on suit, boots and hat, all of it, and go off to the office; if then we think, ‘Will I come home again in the evening or not?’, that fellow cannot go to the office at all. If we take a bag and mean to go to the market and bring back vegetables, and say, ‘Will I bring the vegetables home or not, will I live till then or not?’, that fellow cannot go to the market at all. So because we have so much faith even in such small matters, we are able to achieve all these tasks. We must regard faith as our very breath. Without faith, it is a life without breath. More than any other faith, self-confidence matters most. With such self-confidence we must step forward, and must not turn back in the least. So I hope, and I bless you, that from today you will develop this faith in God, take part in service to society, share to some extent the sufferings of your fellow men, and dedicate our lives to fitting service of society; and I bring My long talk to a close. Whomever you serve, think that you are serving God.
