Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must try to recognise such divine meaning and act on it.

We must recognise the truth that we have taken on the body in order to cross over. Though the body is not lasting, crossing over is certain. Some day or other we must cross over. We must choose God. We must cast off this delusion. We must forget the delusion of the world. Delusion about the body must perish. The principle of the Ātma must go on shining without break. The Ātma alone is Satya. The body is death. The mind is Ajñāna. That is why:

Lead me from the unreal to the real; lead me from darkness to light; lead me from death to immortality.

Man has been asking, 'Take me from this Asatya to Satya, carry me from death to immortality, lead me from this darkness into light.' So we must let go of what must be let go. We must know what must be known. We must reach the goal that must be reached. Till then we shall have no Śānti. If we are to attain Śānti, we must try to recognise the secret of these three. So today nāma-saṅkīrtana must be such as moves the heart, such as moves God. All of you, turning with one mind, try to utter the Name of God.
