In plain words
Prema keeps bringing in any power, however great. It brings about equanimity and unity.
Before Prema even enmity does not work in the least
Once upon a time the Buddha was on a journey somewhere. Midway on the road a demoness seized Him. ‘I will kill you now and eat you,’ she said. The Buddha, with a smile: ‘O God! You are not a demon; I look on you as God. I love you too,’ He said. By this word the Buddha spoke from His heart, that demon was changed, became a dove, the sign of Śānti, and flew away. That is, before Prema even enmity did not work in the least. So, when we go on loving anyone at all, even an enemy, however great, cannot take revenge on us. So we must all develop unity. We must achieve equanimity. We must nourish Divinity. That is man's chief goal.
All religions teach Satya and Dharma alone
There are names of many kinds: Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and more. But we must not keep such distinctions at all. All religions have been teaching Satya and Dharma alone. All the group bhajans we sing today began only through a great hero in the Punjab. When each person went on praying to God by himself, Guru Nānak, holding that this was mere selfishness and that when prayers are offered together oneness arises within Divinity, began group bhajans. When all pray to God together, once, with one voice, how sacred are the vibrations that grow! If we enquire well into every religion, all of them have given only good teachings. Above all, we must give up the distinctions of race and religion, look on all these as illusions, and believe that our race is one, the human race.
