In plain words
Only then shall we make our Bhārata a model country. If our feelings do not change, there is no use in spreading and teaching. There is no use in singing any number of bhajans.
Whatever you do, regard it as God’s work
Keeping sacred feelings safe in our hearts, we must go on doing the right sādhana. The aged Bhūmānanda has taken up this responsibility and, with great labour at his age, is teaching Dharma in many ways as he sees fit. With him, Saccidānanda, Rāmakṛṣṇānanda and many other sannyāsīs have joined together and are working on this path with great zeal and spirit. Their hearts are very pure. I hope that they will enter upon this new path, take the vow of this divine work, put their time to good use and attain fulfilment. Whatever you do, go on regarding it as God’s work. Believe the body to be only an instrument. This is true service to society. If we say we are doing some japa, some dhyāna, that is only selfishness!
To seek Mokṣa for oneself is selfishness; can it be Dharma to seek one’s own crossing alone?
We must grow a broad feeling, that many others should cross over along with us. The narrow feeling must be pushed aside. We must grow an expansive Prema. This is what we must grow today! We must not waste our lives in hatred, envy and anger without this Prema. There is one thing all of you must especially note today. Of the things you are spreading and teaching, put at least one or two into practice. When so many who come from many thousands of miles away find peace of many kinds, and you who live close by feel unrest, this must truly be called your misfortune. You are like frogs on the lotus, while a bee that has come from somewhere far away drinks its nectar.
