Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

What kind of actions are we to do? That is, with these hands we must live the principle of being without hurting or harming others in any way. We must be immersed in a feeling in which the heart is not defiled by attachment and hatred. With the hands we must do actions not defiled by violence and the like. We must keep a tongue not defiled by untruth and the like. Only when he has purified these three does a man come to have trikaraṇa śuddhi. Only when there is trikaraṇa śuddhi does Jñāna become pure.

Today, wherever one looks in the world, only the demonic tendencies called injustice, wrongdoing, misconduct, untruth and adharma are dancing the dance of dissolution. In such conditions a longing keeps rising in every human being: how are we to uplift the world, how to set it right, how are we to attain Śānti? Only when we recognise the truth that human birth has come to us to cool this anguish, to receive this Ānanda and to recognise the principle of the Ātma, and live by it, does this find its meaning. Truly, as for saying, we say a great many things. Saying is easy. Writing is easier still. But living it is very hard, for the Creator or even for his grandfather. So if we want to reach this trikaraṇa śuddhi, we must experience the unity of these three. The actions of mind, speech and body. Only when we bring about the unity of these three does divinity arise in us. Without it, it cannot arise.

The heart of man is the dwelling of God. Though we have such a heart, the heart that should be like the ocean of milk, the heart that should be the Mānasa lake, we are turning into a sea of filth, a house of dirt. This goes against man. Wherever there is the ocean of milk, right there Śrī Mahāviṣṇu reclines. So our heart must be the ocean of milk. That is, only when it is pure, spotless and selfless, like the ocean of milk, does God recline in it. Only then do we earn the right to say that God dwells in the heart. All this is clothed in God. We say that God is in everyone. But when it comes to our own affairs, we behave against this. God is all-powerful.
