In plain words
Yogi, bhogi, virāgi, bairāgi: no one can say, ‘I don't want it.’ What is the reason? We must recognise its meaning. Mokṣa means the lasting end of sorrow and the gaining of Ānanda. Will anyone say, ‘I don't want Ānanda’? Or will anyone say, ‘I want sorrow’? No one can say it. The end of sorrow and the gaining of Ānanda: that is our longing. Man longs to gain Ānanda. This is what is true. It was said: ‘The destruction of delusion is Mokṣa.’ We must destroy it. Only then is there true Mokṣa. Mokṣa is not building a big aircondition Room apart, putting everyone there and enjoying every comfort and pleasure. That is not Mokṣa. Mokṣa is in our own life. We must recognise our own true nature. To understand oneself is Mokṣa. We must take up such a truth in a simple way, My golden ones.
We read so many Upaniṣads. We read so many purāṇas; we recite the Bhagavad Gītā. All of this is only to make good use of our time and to purify the citta through action; Mokṣa will never come to us through it. Do not set your hopes on that. Do well the work that has to be done. That is what matters. If the deeds we do are bad, what use is it, tell Me, however many Vedānta texts we recite, however many sādhanas we do? However much water you pour into a vessel full of holes, it keeps leaking away. That is not the way. First of all make the vessel of the heart sound. With that feeling we must make the principle of Prema grow. There is nothing higher than Prema. Prema is God. God is Prema. We must love all. Because what is in everyone is the very form of Prema. So we must not hate anyone. We must not try to hate those of these Sai organisations, or of any other organisation. Divinity is in everyone. Many people keep saying it: at certain times one has to take a wrong path. There is no room at all for taking a wrong path. What is the reason? We must keep to the right path. When we keep watching that right path, a wrong path never comes by any effort of ours. We must not hate anyone. It would be hating one's own God. We must not speak harsh words to anyone. It would be wounding their heart. If iron breaks it can be welded, but if a heart breaks it cannot be joined again. So no one at all should consent to hurting another's heart.
