In plain words
There is trust in everything. Saying today is amāvāsya, we offer tarpaṇas today. Does that day come with a board on it saying ‘Today is amāvāsya’? No! If we think, ‘Today is ekādaśī’, where is it? Because an astrologer named today ekādaśī, we follow it. We follow an astrologer. Within the principle of God, when the word of the Veda, That you are, Consciousness is Brahman, this Ātma is Brahman, I am Brahman, tells us firmly, ‘You yourself are God, my dear’, we do not believe it. See how low human nature is sinking! One who trusts himself must develop faith of this kind. Without faith of this kind no one can stay in the world even a moment.
Embodiments of Prema! Not only must you experience the divine principle yourselves; you must try to pass on this Satya, this Prema, to others. No one should eat alone, selfishly, what has been received. Look at the crows: if rice grains are scattered anywhere, when a crow sees those grains it does not come by itself, fill its belly and fly off. It circles round. Crying caw, caw, it calls all the crows, and they eat the grains and go. Such unity there is among the crows. If ants find a little sweet anywhere, an ant does not eat its fill and lie down there. It goes back to its anthill, tells all the ants, brings all the ants, and they share out the food that is there and all enjoy it and go. There is unity among crows. There is unity among ants. Among human beings it is vanishing. Unity is true strength. With one finger we cannot do any work. Only when the five fingers come together can we do the work well. So only when unity comes, the oneness of all living together in harmony, does purity, cleanness, arise in us. Only when this purity comes to us does Divinity, the divine, come to us. But today there is no unity. There is no purity. There is no divinity. community: our caste, our caste. Which caste, this caste. Fire, which caste is it? Water, what caste? Air, what caste? The sky, which caste? None of these has a caste! What is our caste? The human caste is our caste. Our race is the human race. We are all human beings. If we recognise this truth first of all, it will be all the better. These castes and religions belong to the body. You think, ‘I am old.’ You think yourself old because of the body; otherwise where did this oldness come to you from?
