In plain words
Embodiments of the divine Ātma!
Unity itself is the thread of life. Social effort itself is the path to progress. The world does not mean only the earth, which our eyes can see and which cannot speak with us. The living society is the world. The very essence of life in both, unity and effort, is the Tāraka mantra. For one who serves, three limbs are the chief. Dedication to the work is the first. The second is pure Prema. The third is freedom from Ahaṅkāra. This very thing can also be called freedom from show. So freedom from show, pure Prema and dedication to the work: these three are the chief vows of one who serves.
The making of man is the making of the universe. Only when man is good will the world be good. Only when the individual is noble will society too show itself an ideal society. That is why the individual must make the fitting effort to become good. Then alone will society too show itself an ideal society. Only when this society is good will the country know joy, in plenty and in comfort. In short, the individual, society and the world: these three are the very forms of the Trinity. So today we must not think the changes that come about in society outward… so very important. We must not take these outward kinds of progress or transformations as the main goal. That is, along with political transformation, economic transformation and social transformation, transformation of the mind is most needed. Along with this transformation of the mind, spiritual transformation too is most needed. If these transformations of the mind and the spirit are lacking, then however many kinds of progress we achieve, they cannot give society that much peace and security.
In this, the influence of the Sai organisations must arise from the level of the mind itself. Merely outward transformation and progress too are only a kind of arts. These arts are things that stay outside. All art has sprung from the heart. So what you must recognise first of all is the truth: art is outside, heart is inside, art should come from the heart; you must recognise this. So all the Sai organisations must work through the heart, and not through art. In this, sacrifice is most needed. Only through this sacrifice is fitting joy gained. Only then can we shine as noble people, as those who stand at a high level. You have seen the ocean, whose very nature is to hoard. Ever at the very bottom it … stays.
