In plain words
She did it. She seated Kṛṣṇa on one side of the scales. On the other she put the ornaments she had, her wealth and gold, diamonds, cat's-eyes, gems and rubies, and topazes. She put in the Śyamantaka gem too. Poor Kṛṣṇa did not move even a hair's breadth. What is the inner meaning of this? God cannot be bought with wealth. He cannot be won with my Ahaṅkāra. To proclaim to the world the truth that diamonds, rubies, emeralds, gōmēdhikas and topazes are not equal to Him: that is the inner meaning of the weighing of Kṛṣṇa. Then to what does He yield? Rukmiṇī came. She was free of Ahaṅkāra. She was free of selfishness. When Satyabhāmā came to Rukmiṇī, she was doing her tulasī worship. It was her habit to pluck a tulasī leaf and put it in her mouth. Seeing Satyabhāmā's haste, she did not put the leaf in her mouth but came holding it in her hand. Satyabhāmā opened her mouth and told her everything. “Ah, foolish woman! Will our Kṛṣṇa be outweighed by wealth? Will He be outweighed by your Ahaṅkāra? You are greatly mistaken.” She held the tulasī leaf in her hand. You, who truly yield to those who have Bhakti, be it with a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, be outweighed by this tulasī leaf! She took the tulasī leaf and, Hē Kṛṣṇa, … placed the tulasī leaf on the scale. For the form of Kṛṣṇa, the name of Kṛṣṇa alone is the right weight. Because she placed the tulasī leaf with the word “Kṛṣṇa,” the name of Kṛṣṇa outweighed the form of Kṛṣṇa. The tulasī leaf became extra weight. What does a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water mean! When we do worship and a leaf is named, we take a bilva leaf or a jasmine leaf and offer it. When a flower is named, we offer a jasmine or a campaka flower. When a fruit is named, one sets out a banana or an apple, nips off a little, offers it, and in the end eats it oneself. Tōya means water. One draws it from a well or from a tap and offers it. That was not Rukmiṇī Dēvī's feeling. By the leaf is meant the leaf of the body. This is what I offer to You. By the flower is meant the flower of the heart. I offer to You the flower of my heart. By the fruit is meant the fruit of the mind. By the water are meant tears of Ānanda. What You gave me, I give to You alone. I did not bring this flower of the heart with me. I did not bring this leaf called the body with me. Every single thing is Your gift. That is what I give to You. With such sacred feelings Rukmiṇī went on winning everything. The great devotees have proclaimed to the world that the principle of Prema alone wins over the Paramātma. To attain the Paramātma, Prema is what matters most. All have come from there. All must go back there. We are those who came from Brahman. We must remain in the feeling of Brahman. Thoughts of Brahman alone must come. That is, there must be only sacred thoughts. There must be sacred actions. There must be sacred vision. We must develop unity. Jayadēva taught all this beautifully.
