In plain words
Do not eat the sugar sweets in the shops of the world and fall prey to indigestion.
Here is the sweet called the Name of God; come, O people!
How was it made?
Into the wheat flour called the essence of the Vedas they poured the milk called the word of the Vedas; taking the great pan that is the support, the ancient sages mixed it well. Bringing the lump sugar called Bhakti, adding the cow's ghee called good Buddhi, taking away the dirt called falsehood, the ancient sages shared it out well. God's prasāda is of every kind, it cures every disease, my friend; it costs not even a single coin; share it out without a quarrel, my friends.
There is no sweetness greater than this Name. So it is an easy path, and the goal is certain. You can reach it without obstacles of any kind. So, whether the unlettered or the paramahaṃsas, the learned or the unlearned, the poor man who lacks a meal or the millionaire, the Name that is given to all alike is this divinity alone. So, through Bhakti, which is the principle of Prema, to remember the divine Name is the very best path.
What kind of change does it bring about? When one becomes mad with Ānanda as one utters the Name, it makes even God dance the Bharata dance, they say. This very Name is the root cause that makes Śiva dance. For Śiva's tāṇḍava, this very Name is the root cause. It is not God alone that it makes dance the tāṇḍava; it makes the devotees too dance the tāṇḍava, they say. Not the devotees alone. It dances the tāṇḍava itself. This Name of God is endowed with the power and ability by which God, the devotees and the embodiments of Prema dance in one place, at one time. Are we singing the Name with an understanding of such a principle of the Name? How are Bhakti and surrender today?
