In plain words
Our Bhārata is the one made of feeling, melody and beat. Only then will we have given the country its true meaning. Students! You must go on singing the bhajan songs from the heart, raising your voices freely. Group bhajan is truly worthwhile. Guru Nānak was the very first to establish it. If only one person and another each sing on their own, there is no use. Everyone's voices must come together in one place. Everyone's hands must come together in one sound. Everyone's hearts must come together in one. So when all sing together in one tune, how full of Ānanda it is. It is a delight to the ear. If each one goes his own way, it grates on the ear. This remembrance of the Name was formed precisely to delight the ear. Strive to attain Divinity through these bhajans. Whatever we think of, that form we attain. That is precisely why you must remember God's Name with Prema, putting your heart into it.
Today, because there is no such sacred atmosphere in the world, feelings are wavering. Students! Recognise one thing. Where is the air we breathe? It is everywhere. What has mixed into this air? All kinds of evil sounds have mixed into it. Only because we take this air inside us do all kinds of evil feelings enter us. As the fire, so the smoke. As the smoke, so the cloud. As the cloud, so the rain. As the rain, so the crop. As the crop, so the cooking. As the food, so the head. So what is the root cause of our heads going bad? The faults in the air we breathe. In Delhi, in Madras, in Bangalore, wherever it is, all the sounds of Ākāśavāṇi are in this air. All such power and sounds spread out everywhere. That is what we breathe in. So all sorts of evil feelings and evil forces make all these sounds. What is this, all these meaningless songs mixing into this air! They put on some radio. In the bazaar they play gramophone records for a wedding. All kinds of meaningless songs come out of it. All of them mix into this air. We must make it pure. Sundarayya said, “pollution.” To keep on purifying this, remembrance of the Name is most essential. If we do not take God's Name, those same things come and settle in us. If we would make meaningless words meaningful, we must take God's Name as our support. Otherwise they come on that tape recorder. Otherwise they come on the gramophone plate, “ḍaḍaḍā ḍaḍaḍā”: what is this? All such songs come. These songs enter us. We become “ḍaḍaḍā”.
