In plain words
Śrī Rāma too lay down. Where could He lie? There were no mattresses there. Sand. Rāma had set out wearing matted locks, in the garb of an ascetic. Lakṣmaṇa sat. Rāma lay with His head on his lap. Rāma questioned them one by one. ‘Sugrīva! Some dark spot shows in that moon; what do you call it?’ He said. ‘I do not know, Rāma,’ he said. Then He asked Jāmbavān. Jāmbavān answered. In the moon there are many mountains and pits. The very shadow of those pits and mountains shows as that dark shape,’ he said. Jāmbavān had mastered astronomy, natural science and geography. He went on asking a few others in the same way. He asked Lakṣmaṇa. Lakṣmaṇa: Brother, something in it looks like a deer. It looks like animals,’ he said. To Hanumān, who was beside Him pressing His feet, He said, ‘What do you see in the moon, Hanumān?’ ‘Rāma! I see nothing else at all. As You lie on Your back and look, the very picture of Your face shows in the mirror that is the moon,’ he said. The moon appears like a clean mirror. In that mirror only Your reflection appears, he said. That is, in every object he saw only the form and the Name of Śrī Rāmacandra. At no time would he do anything but Rāma's service. He was mighty, rich in virtues. Deeply calm. This Hanumān entered the Aśoka grove and went on laying waste the whole of Laṅkā. When Rāvaṇa asked him, Who are you, fellow? the mighty Hanumān did not swell with Ahaṅkāra. Dāsohaṃ Kosalendrasya. I am the servant of Śrī Rāmacandra, he said. If the servant himself has this much strength, think how much strength the Master has, Rāvaṇa, he said. There is no one more exemplary than this Hanumān, who ever held to the feeling of servanthood. That is why Rāma said that Bhārata is the birthplace of gratitude: the name He gave it. Without gratitude there is no humanness at all. To save Sītā as she was being carried off alone, Jaṭāyu gave up its life. That is why, in gratitude to Jaṭāyu for helping His Sītā, He performed all its last rites. So too with Hanumān. Hanumān! I do not know how to thank you. You yourself took the news of My welfare in Kiṣkindhā to Sītā in the Aśoka grove. You yourself brought Rāma the news of Sītā suffering in the Aśoka grove.
