In plain words

Some time passed. When a year had passed, a disciple called Kadambi, the grandson of the sage Katya, came: Swami! I have been living in the āśrama for some time. The resolve grows greater day by day. He prayed: clear this doubt for me and give me peace of mind. Who is the root cause of this creation? Who creates all these beings? As soon as he asked, Pippalāda smiled and said, ‘Child! This is the creation of Prajāpati.’ With that, Kadambi's heart broke. For all the service I have done so long, is this the answer? We say that Prajāpati is the one who created the creatures. Who is this Prajāpati? Food itself is Prajāpati. So he said. He said that through this very food humanness comes to us. What is the root cause of this food? Varuṇa. Only through Varuṇa do the crops grow. Through these very crops we get our substance. Child! First of all, our conduct is the most necessary thing. As the fire, so the smoke. As the smoke, so the cloud. As the cloud, so the rain. As the rain, so the crop. As the crop, so the cooking. As the cooking, so the life. So this food itself is the root support of human life. Only through food does humanness come forth in this world. But this too has a root support. What is its support? When we ask in this way: the sun, the living; the moon, the inert. The close union of this inert and this consciousness is the root cause of this creation. In the world the inert and consciousness, the two, arise naturally. Prāṇa and the living being arise naturally. The close union of these two is the root cause of creation; the sun's rays spread in brilliance in all ten directions. These rays enter even the fire of digestion. Entering this fire of digestion, they thereby become the root cause of birth. In this world, for the clay made of earth, for the tree made of wood, for the mountain made of stone, for the body made of flesh, the sun's rays are vital to us. In this very thing the power of prāṇa lies held. Through this very power of prāṇa the whole world goes on coming forth. It goes on protecting the world so brought forth. So the root cause of all creation, preservation and dissolution is the sun alone, he said.
