In plain words
But in the story no one knows this secret. In this way, because we do not know certain truths, we fall prey to many kinds of misconceptions. If we know the truth itself, we will give no room at all to misconceptions. He who is worthy of God's sight can be worthy of the world's sight too. He who is far from God's sight is not worthy of anyone's sight.
If people approach someone near them, saying, ‘My son, you are very good, my son,’ everyone loves him. Push him away once, and the whole world too will loathe him. So, as to what we must recognise to have recognised everything: if we recognise the one Divinity, this whole universe is only a part of God's creation. The world of today does not recognise that equality. There is a coin. People look at that coin from one side only. Only when we look at the second side too do we understand the coin's true value. They do not look at the second side. One is Prakṛti, the second is the supreme principle. One is kṣara, the second is akṣara. One is the root, the second is the gross. But today they look only at the gross. They look only at Prakṛti. They look only at the physical. They experience only the worldly. No one looks at this eternal, true root. Only when we look at that root is our whole story understood. So no one can say God's story is like this or like that. Going by the writings written and the teachings told, we understand, and grow both liking and hostility. We must try to recognise the wholeness of these two. Because it is written in books that Kṛṣṇa was like this, and because elders say so, some take Him to be thoroughly false. Because it is said that Rāma was like this, we believe it. Not these two. We must believe and recognise the truth that is within them. There is one truth that is the basis of these two.
The gopikās too said one day: ‘Kṛṣṇa! Our eyes alone are seeing. With our eyes we see You. How long is what is seen with these eyes true? It is true as long as there are eyes. So this truth is not truth for us. We see with the heart. The heart is like a soiled pond. In it we cannot see this of Yours properly. The part in the mud is black. Your form too is black. When we try to look at the heart, the whole lake of the mind has gathered impurity and is black.
