In plain words

Wondering, ‘When will God come, when will He bless me?’ he used to stay very silent. Once Rāṇī Rāsamaṇi asked him. ‘Rāmakṛṣṇa! Why do you keep so much silence?’ God is the subtlest of forms. “Aṇoraṇīyān mahato mahīyān.” The atom within the atom, the greatest among the great. When we make so many sounds, we cannot hear His sound when God comes. When we are silent and He comes making His sound, it is that sound we must hear. At the faintest sound in the silence he would get up at once and look. So: the sound in that silence is itself the sound of God. When we wish to hear such a sound, can it be heard within the sounds we make? Can we fix our concentration on Him? Does one-pointedness come? Every man must cut down his words as far as he can. When a man cuts down his words little by little, the sound of the Ātma begins from within him. It is subtler than our breathing in and out. That is what Rāmakṛṣṇa called ‘Parama Bhakti’. In the world there are only the five elements. Besides these, if you think there is one more element, that element is the divine! The name given to that divine is prapatti. We must attain that prapatti. Only when we attain that prapatti can we experience the divine in every moment.
