Passage 3

In plain words

The scientist who has taken the five elements into his hands and plays with them cannot live without fear. Without even the peace and security an ordinary man has, the scientist is making a laughing-stock of his own life. Life itself has become disordered. The reason is that today's education is only for earning a living. Seeking jobs, they are turning into people who go up one doorstep and down the next. They are making the tie between education and employment ever closer. We must recognise the Satya that learning is for Vijñāna.

Man, who should be searching for the Ātma, is striving to search for food

In today's world man appears in two kinds. One is greedy; the other is without desire. The man without desire looks on the whole world as a blade of grass. The man with desire cannot be satisfied even if he is given Mount Meru. Once a sādhaka put a question to Brahmā: ‘Lord Brahmā! Why did you create this Mount Meru? For whom did you create it?’ he asked. “My son! In the Rāmāyaṇa there is a strange person. His form is very strange. He has no head. That is, it is not that he has none: the head that should sit on the shoulders sits on the belly. His name is Kabandha. His head, his intellect, everything he has labours for the belly. He used his head for the sake of the belly. For him, ‘the belly is Kailāsa’. Without a thought for the supreme goal of his life, he devoted his whole life only to the worship of desire. Every thing his long arms reach he hands to his own stomach. People like this are going to come in the days ahead. Today, the learning they have studied, the Vijñāna they have acquired, the power of their intellect, all of it they labour to use only for the belly. All Vijñāna, Sujñāna and Prajñāna are being dedicated to the belly.
