In plain words
‘In whatever measure one thinks of Me, in just that measure am I’
Anil Kumar went everywhere, to Tokyo and Hong Kong, and all this while he has been giving you, with joy in his heart, the devotion and surrender of the people there and the experiences they have had. Some may feel, ‘When those so far away have such devotion and surrender and such experiences, why do these experiences not come to us, who are living right here, close by?’ I have neither unkindness towards you nor kindness towards them! ‘In whatever measure one thinks of Me, in just that measure am I’: in whatever measure a person thinks, in just that measure it will be. Their faith itself is the root cause of this. Each one's faith gives each one its own result. Yet good and bad are there, and they are here. But because they are far away, their devotion and surrender have sunk in deep. Feelings that have sunk in deep stay safe and well in any circumstance whatever. Devotees in whom it has not sunk in deep are always restless. A small example. Along the side of the road there are great big trees. These trees are very big. But a famine came. No rain, no water. Yet those trees stay green. Right beside them is a crop of paddy. It must be watered every day. If it is not watered even for one day, it wilts and dries up. What did this foolish man think? ‘Look, this tiny plant wilts and dies if it has no water for a single day. This huge tree is flourishing though there has been no rain for so long.’ Why is this so? The roots of that big tree have reached down to the water level. So it supplies water from within, through its roots. The paddy beside it has not gone down to the water level. They stay only on the surface. As long as there is water on the surface, it stays green. If there is no water on the surface, it dries up. So what is the reason we fall into restlessness and sorrow in every way? Our feelings do not go down to the depth of the principle of grace, Ānanda and Prema. We travel only on the surface. We have all become like flying saucers.
