In plain words
He did not ask. So, in any way at all, good fortune or misfortune, good or bad, comes of itself and chooses.
When we cannot do good, we must keep quiet; but harm we must never do
Something in us keeps blocking divine feelings from arising in us. What is it? ‘Hiding the lakhs of faults in oneself, one keeps magnifying the speck in others.’ That is, people keep blowing up the fault that is in others. Even if there are lakhs of faults in himself, he hides them. Any fault at all in others, however small, they magnify greatly. Those evil thoughts must go today. Every single person born in Bhārata must keep far from this evil thinking. Only then will we be the ones who have uplifted the country. When we cannot do good, if we sit with our mouth shut, that itself is a great good. We must not try to do harm. We must not stand in the way of those who do. Today Bhārata is beset with a great many problems. From the moment our Narasimha Rao took on the responsibilities of Prime Minister, problems have been coming like mountains. But he enquires calmly, patiently, in the right spirit, consults everyone and takes the right decisions. That is not possible in so big a world. One flower is not a garland, is it? When many flowers come together, a garland is made. We must be a helping hand to such work and make the effort needed to uphold the progress of the country and its name and honour. Many keep coming: problems, hardships. Pleasure is an interval between two pains. A happiness lies only between two pains. If you sit in an air-conditioned room for twenty-four hours, you do not even know the value of the AC. Only when you have gone round in the sun for two hours do you know the value of the AC. Close behind hardships, happiness too is always there. They lay a road. They do not lay it straight.
