In plain words

When Navarātri comes, all the women set up dolls, do pūjās and arrange the doll displays. That is not what we should be doing. All these dolls are forms of Prakṛti. All these forms are made of clay! Through worship of these forms made of clay we must attain the Divinity made of consciousness. That is the power that lies in man. People say ‘Brahma, Brahma, Brahma’. Where is Brahma? Brahma means the One whose form is vast: that alone is Brahma. That is, Brahma is He who pervades everything. That is caitanya. That caitanya is in all beings. We must make a fitting effort to recognise the caitanya that is in all beings. In this humanness, is the body the chief thing? Is Buddhi the chief thing? Is Manas the chief thing? Are the senses the chief thing? Is the citta the chief thing? Is the antaḥkaraṇa the chief thing? Such questions we must put to ourselves. People keep saying my body, my mind, my Buddhi, my citta, my antaḥkaraṇa; but who am I? This body, mind, Buddhi, citta, the senses, the antaḥkaraṇa: all these are mere instruments, tools. In all of them the my, my, my is the same. So this my alone is the Master. That Master is the Ātma. So, keeping this Ātma as our goal, we must use this body, Manas, Buddhi, citta, the senses and Ahaṅkāra.
