Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Duryodhana went and travelled far and wide in the kingdom. He came back again. After sending Duryodhana off, Kṛṣṇa called Dharmaja. ‘Dharmaja! See if there is anyone bad in our kingdom, and call him and bring him!’ He said. Dharmarāja went and searched everywhere well. They came back, one after the other. Then Kṛṣṇa asked Duryodhana, ‘Brother-in-law! Did you find anyone good?’ ‘There is not one good man. If you have some work, is there anyone better than me? So take me, none other,’ said Duryodhana. ‘Very well, I am glad,’ said Kṛṣṇa. A little later Dharmaja came. ‘Well, Dharmaja! Did you find anyone bad?’ Kṛṣṇa asked. ‘Can there be bad people in my kingdom? If there is any bad at all, it may be in me alone; everyone else is good,’ said Dharmarāja. So what is its inner meaning? Duryodhana always had nothing but bad feelings. To one with bad feeling, everyone looked bad. In Dharmaja's heart there were only good feelings. So everyone looked good to him. Both were faults of their own feeling, not faults of Prakṛti. That is why they said: ‘Yadbhāvaṃ tadbhavati.’ As the feeling is, so is the Satya. Through your bad intentions, you become bad. Through goodness, you become good. Whatever colour of glasses you put on to look, the whole world looks that very colour. Dharmaja always put on the glasses of holy Dharma to look. So everyone looked good to him. The fault is in the glasses, not in the world. What is the reason? All of it is God's creation! There is no fault at all in the creation. Root out the fault in your vision.

The water that comes from our eyes must be offered to Nārāyaṇa alone

In every human being bad feelings gather and keep giving rise to resolves of many kinds. So to purify our feelings we must develop Prema for God.
