In plain words
Though the paths differ in the various religions, the goal is one!
Taking Jesus for a traitor to the king, they took His life on the cross one Friday. After that, it is the belief of the Christians that He came back on the Sunday. Because it is the day He came back, that is the inner meaning of praying in church on Sunday. Among His followers the Catholics are the chief. These Catholics took the mother of Christ as their support. They worshipped Mother Mary. They worship only on the twenty-fourth. Unlike them, the Protestants worship Christ on the very day of His birth. Though the feeling of both is one, offering prayers and keeping the festival on the evening of the twenty-fourth: this the Catholics took to be their chief Dharma. Holding the day Jesus was born to be the chief one, the Protestants kept the festival only on the twenty-fifth. To set a tree there on the festival of Christmas and worship it is a Christian tradition that has come down from ancient times. This tradition began first in the country of Germany. Their belief was that God dwells in the ‘oak tree’. Once a preacher of religion called Jensen, a man from England, was travelling in Germany when he saw some Germans worshipping a tree, believing that God dwells in the tree too. Seeing this, Jensen was astonished and asked them the reason for worship of this kind. They told him that God was in this very tree. Then Jensen took an axe and cut the tree right down its length. Then a divine event that took place there shook Jensen. In the middle of the tree, split down its length, something like an infant appeared. This event shows that God is in every living being. It dawned on him that God is not only in men, not only in beasts, birds and animals, but in trees too.
