In plain words
Atomic energy is everywhere. Only when we recognise well the form and nature of such atomic energy will the principle of God be well understood.
Śaṅkara. What does śaṃ mean? That which pervades everywhere, like the air. Just as the air keeps pervading, so the power called śaṃ pervades. This kara is that which is joined with Ānanda. The one who delights is Śaṅkara. Śaṅkara is the one who gives everything: eternal Ānanda, saccidānanda, the Ānanda of Brahman, the Ānanda of non-duality. The meaning of this word Śaṅkara is "that which brings Ānanda". Second, Īśvara. Īśvara means the embodiment of every kind of wealth. What does wealth mean? It is not only money, gold, goods and vehicles. Ānanda is wealth. Health is wealth. The power of intellect is wealth. The strength of one's arms is wealth. In man, everything is a form of wealth. What brings every kind of wealth is the nature of Īśvara. But then, what form has this Ānanda? For Ānanda, experience itself is the form. Ānanda is granted from God alone; we do not get it by any other path. What is everywhere is Ānanda. But it is not seen. We must not argue that it is not there merely because it is not seen. The nature of Īśvara pervades everywhere. Losing that faith in their humanness, becoming embodiments of unbelief, people are moving away from Ānanda and drawing near to unrest. Life without faith is like water you pour into a sieve. By faith alone we must achieve this. Divinity is everywhere. There is no place without divinity. All of you are embodiments of God. In all of you are electric power, magnetic power, atomic power, the power of heat, every power. The power of light is the chief power in our life. Electric power is obtained only through this power of light. Electric power grows with magnetism. Only when the two, this magnetic power and electric power, come together does divine light arise in us. This divine light has not come from somewhere else. It is within us. Our own form is the divine form. That is why I address you as "Embodiments of the divine Ātma!" Because we cannot recognise this truth, we go searching, thinking God is somewhere else. God is everywhere. We must try to recognise this truth step by step. People speak of "the search for truth". What is there to search for? Truth is everywhere, isn't it? A small example of this. Our eyes see the mother. The same eyes see the child. The same eyes see the wife. The same eyes see the cook. The same eyes see the daughter-in-law. But here we must carry out the search for truth. Are the eyes that see not one and the same! But with what feeling should we look when we see the mother, with what thought when we see the wife, with what view when we see the cook? This is the search for truth. These four are all women. The eyes that see are one. Whom to see with what feeling: that is the search for truth. In the same way, there is the tongue. What tells lies is the tongue. What tells the truth is that same tongue. What abuses others is the tongue. What praises others is the tongue. When the tongue is one, whom to abuse, whom to trust, whom to love, whom to worship: that is the search. Truth is in everything. The use that suits the thing is truth. The use that suits the thing is the search for truth. If you strike iron with your finger, the finger is cut. If you strike butter with a hammer, it is smashed to pieces. What should be used for what: that is the search for truth. If we want to search out the divinity that is everywhere, a change of feeling must come in us. Only when we make divine feelings arise can we see the feeling of one Ātma in all. Today idol worship is not mere foolishness. It is good conduct indeed. What is the reason? Only by taking it as a support are we able to gain consciousness. Inside the house we hang the photographs of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers on the walls. We have not seen them. We put garlands on them. We keep honouring them. But is there life in them? Is there love in him? Do we understand anything of his bond with us? No, no. We worship it with affection, because he is our great-grandfather. Without that affection, why would we keep it in our house? In the same way, affection and attachment towards everything are our true Bhakti. Faith in atomic energy is our Bhakti. That atom is God. If you ask where God is, He is not somewhere far off; He is in everything. But to know this is very hard. Truly, when that faith has grown in us, to know it is very easy. Even before people understand it, many kinds of misconceptions, doubts and disputes go on about it. In the past Cārvāka used to revile idol worship. In the very end they too came to recognise it. Since even the atom has a shape, the whole world is full of shape. Every shape is an image. What shape has water? There is water in this tumbler. Its shape is according to the tumbler. You can tell its shape by the vessel into which it is poured. What shape has air? If you blow it into a balloon, it takes the shape of the balloon. If you fill it into a football, it takes the shape of the football. The air has taken a shape, hasn't it! In the same way, when you fill this body with that divine power, this body too is a shape. According to the feeling with which we fill it, our shape takes the form of divinity.
