Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

So, if there is to be calm among the people, then as the Gītā says, ‘Mamātma sarvabhūtāntarātma’: if you think, ‘What is in all is my own Ātma,’ no quarrels, no turmoil, no violence of any kind can arise. It is my own Ātma that is in all. Then who will harm whom? Who will hurt whom? No one will be able to hurt anyone.

All are forms of God!

A man loves his own Ātma; he does not harm it. When he looks at his reflection in a full-length mirror, will he hate the reflection he sees? That is why, in My seventh year, I wrote a poem.

Why spectacles, to see your reflection in a full-length mirror? Why a lamp, to behold the moon that shines on the pathway of the sky? Why a guru, to know the teaching of the Ātma and speak it?

The Ātma is your God. The Ātma is Śiva, the Ātma is Viṣṇu, the Ātma is Brahmā. Why another guru to recognise such a principle? What is in every human being is the one God alone! All are forms of God! If we develop a feeling of this kind, there will be no room at all for quarrels and turmoil. Today in the land they have forgotten such sacred feelings. They are not to be seen at all, not even by the eye. Wherever you look, hatred. Wherever you look, envy; wherever you look, selfishness; wherever you look, self-interest. It is because these wicked traits have grown that the sacred bond is coming apart.

‘I’ is endless and eternal

The bond between us is the bond of one Ātma. We must recognise the truth that I and you are one. Who is You? Not you, not you, not you; You, I... I: all are I. I and you are one, you means GOD.
