In plain words
Where is God? You think God is in some Kāśī, in some Bhadrācalam, in some Tirupati, in some Amarnāth. A great mistake. That itself is the great Ajñāna. God is in your heart itself. That itself is the eternal God. When we hear He is in Kāśī we believe it, and off we go. This is the weakness in man. ‘O madman! Say that God is in your own heart, and man does not believe it. Say He is outside,’ and he believes it very quickly. Man enters the path of darkness. He does not try to believe in the divinity within himself. That is why God has gone on showing a fine secret in creation. Madman! You have two eyes. These two eyes can see the whole outside world. They can see the stars in space, crores of miles away. But the eyes cannot see themselves. This itself is a fine example. We believe in everything. We do not believe in ourselves. He who does not believe in himself: what use is it for him to believe in so much else? That itself is self confidence. That self confidence: foundation. Self satisfaction: wall. Self sacrifice: roof. Self realisation: life. That is the life of man. First of all we must build up self-confidence. Without building up self-confidence, we build up faith in others, and walking on blindly so, we fall into the pit called Ajñāna.
Thoughts, words and deeds: the three must be one
Students! Today's students alone are the uplifters of the Bhārata to come. As citizens you must proclaim Satya itself in society. God is in the heart of every one. So all are the very embodiment of Brahman! Wherever you are asked, ‘Who are you?’, you must become a hero who proclaims with courage, ‘Tattvamasi’, ‘Prajñānaṃ brahma’, ‘Ayamātma brahma’. God is not off somewhere. ‘I am That’. Today we must develop such courage and daring.
