Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Today it is most urgent that every man recognise this principle of Prema and act on it. This Prema pervades the well-disposed and the ill-disposed too, the forest and the mansion, attachment and detachment, the road and the word, the mind and the room. What pervades every place is Prema alone! Every man is failing to recognise this truth. Prema alone is the weapon to drive away the wickedness that has broken out in the world today! Prema alone is the sap, Prema alone the flowers, and Prema alone its fruit as well. For the fruit of Prema, we must experience Prema itself. Every man must try to understand Prema. The man of today scrambles after wealth and power. Wealth and power: both are things that must be there! But even these must have some limit. The ocean, who ought to make the earth green and rich with crops, falls into ill fame when he oversteps his bounds. Food too brings nourishment and contentment to the body, full of amṛta as it is, and to the Manas; only when it is eaten in moderation does the body gain its full strength. When it becomes too much, it brings on ill health and causes the disease of indigestion. Man is in the habit of chewing betel. What matters most in betel is the lime itself. Without it, betel cannot be betel. But when we use too much lime, the tongue blisters. We must use anything at all within a limit.

When the Manas is turned toward the heart, Ānanda comes

In this world everything has a limit. But Prema alone has no limit. Prema is beyond description. Nārada went on describing this principle of Prema in many ways. The stream of Prema is the very water that gives life to every man!
