In plain words

If we want to attain God, we must cultivate pure Prema

Embodiments of Prema! If we want to attain God, if we want to see the divinity within us, we must cultivate pure Prema. This Prema is the cord that binds everyone. This is what they called ‘the cord of Prema’. Now, though there are 250 different sects in the Christian religion, all of them have taken a vow to proclaim the principle of Jesus to the whole world. Even now, wherever you look, men and women are taken up with preaching alone. But while the preaching goes on vigorously, there is no practice. Practice is very important. You may preach. Merely by preaching, it does not become lasting; what is most essential is preaching grounded in your own practice. That is what matters most. If you do it and experience it, everyone will follow you. Your saying is one thing, your doing another. That is why no one is able to believe it. So, first of all, go on practising! Everyone will follow your practice. Today practice is very much needed. Many times I keep telling the children. There are five kinds of knowledge. Through the influence of the present age, bookish knowledge is growing. This bookish knowledge comes as superficial knowledge. But general knowledge zero, common sense zero. Discrimination knowledge is there; but it is not fundamental discrimination. If you practise fundamental discrimination, practical knowledge arises in you. The fundamental, what is in Me, in this one, in all, is one alone! You must develop this principle.

If we want to develop humanness, we must develop the feeling of the one Ātma

‘Mamātmā sarva bhūtāntarātma’: this Ātma dwells in all. But man today, through attachment to the body, a paltry thing like a water bubble, forgets his kinship with God and toils for selfish ends and his own gain. Selfishness is rooting out humanness. So, if we want to develop humanness, we must develop the feeling of the one Ātma. We must believe that religion is the guide on the way to man's welfare.
