Passage 12

In plain words

If he is given bahu‘mati’s, what will become of him! When he is just one monkey, there is this much mischief in life. On top of that, it was said, “Brahmacārī śatamarkaṭaḥ.” His is the mind of a hundred monkeys. I have no wish to give such bahu‘mati’s. What kind of bahumati should you receive? “You are God, you are God”: the name ‘this boy is a good boy with a divine nature’ must come from me. Usually only those who receive prizes get the namaskāra. Yesterday I granted namaskāra to everyone. ‘Tyāgenaike amṛtatvam ānaśuḥ’: it is through sacrifice alone that you got such a chance. First of all, Self satisfaction; and before that satisfaction, what must you do? self confidence. You must bring in that strength. We have put up buildings. If there is no foundation, how will it stand? Self confidence is a foundation - Self satisfaction - Wall, Self sacrifice - Roof, Self Realisation - Life: only when all three are there, foundation, wall and roof, is there a base to live in. So develop Self confidence. Live in Self satisfaction. Step by step, Self sacrifice will enter you. That Self sacrifice becomes the very root and base of Self Realisation.

Students! Step by step fill your hearts with these sacred feelings, go out into this world, and proclaim the spiritual principle in every street, in every quarter. Today the world is in great turmoil. Wherever you look, there is unrest. Wherever you look, there is fear. But if we are to drive away this fear and unrest, we must go on proclaiming Bhakti for God. Today there is no righteousness, no spirituality at all in the world. They scramble after the worldly and the physical. They scramble for name and fame. They scramble for money alone. This is not good. “Money comes and goes, morality comes and grows”: you must go on fostering morality. Take up jobs. Go into your work. While doing it, you must go on serving in society, in village after village. You must not feel that you are serving some others. You must feel, ‘I am serving God, who is in that form.’
