In plain words
The eyes that see, the ears that hear, the tongue that speaks, the nose that smells, the hands that work, the feet that walk: all these belong to this tank. Because one keeps a kind of negative thoughts in the antaḥkaraṇa, all the actions one does take a negative shape. Many chemical substances arise in our mind. In man the six inner enemies are very prominent. All the things that arise through these six inner enemies are negatives. To drive away these negatives and let the positive in, the principle of Prema alone is the foundation. Only when we fill man's heart with Prema will all that keeps arising from us be positive thoughts alone. From Prema come these principles of Satya. From this Prema arise Sat, Cit and Ānanda. From Prema arises the nectar of compassion. From this Prema arises the nectar of kindness. These mental values of sacred worth, the human values, all arise through Prema alone. What are human values? Human values are what arise from Prema. We must fill the heart with the principle of Prema. Only when the heart is full of Prema will all the work we do be full of Prema. If instead one fills the heart with cruel feelings, however many pūjās one performs, they all go to waste. When you lead a life full of Prema, you need do no sādhanas at all. These japas, dhyānas and tapas are merely negative works done with the body. But so long as this negative feeling is in man, we cannot avoid practising them. Attachment to the body is the root cause of this. To scatter attachment to the body is not such an easy task. What does that mean? There is a principle of the Ātma that is the very foundation of this body. The principle of the Ātma is like a foundation for the body. It is no use if we merely look at the building and delight in it. There is a principle of the Ātma that is its support. The principle of the Ātma is like a foundation for the body. The safety of the building depends on the strength of the foundation. So we must recognise well the safety of the foundation. For all these mental principles the foundation called the Ātma is the base.
