In plain words

It made this body suffer so many hardships. “So I have caught the mind; from now on no troubles at all are left for Me,” He said.

Knowing Oneself Alone Is Ānanda

If you control the mind, there will be no more troubles at all. Man today does not control his own mind himself. Wherever you look, he is controlling many people. Man has conquered every thing, but he has not conquered himself. Who said it? It was none other than Churchill. Without knowing himself, he tries to know all sorts of things. What are these researches that man carries out! What does he come to know through these researches! Nothing becomes clear. People do all this only with an outward vision. If you recognise yourself, you become one who has recognised everything. All the Upaniṣads have said this very thing. Knowing which one becomes the knower of all, seeing which one becomes the seer of all, experiencing which one becomes the experiencer of all: that very thing you must experience. That itself is the Ānanda of the Ātma. That itself is eternal Ānanda. That itself is supreme Ānanda. That itself is the Ānanda of non-duality. That itself is Ānanda manifest. Where is that Ānanda? Happiness is union with God. That is true Ānanda. From worldly dealings there is nothing but great unrest. When this Ānanda is joined to the world, it takes shape as great unrest. We must join this Ānanda to God. For God, you need not go searching in places outside. Develop your inward-turned feelings; only then will the Ānanda of the Ātma come to you.

The Ocean of Milk and the Salt Ocean

Your heart is the ocean of milk. You are turning your heart, which is the ocean of milk, into a salt ocean. It was in the ocean of milk itself that Viṣṇu lay reclining. So Viṣṇu lies reclining within the heart itself. If it turns into a salt ocean, whales will lie there. You must not go the way of the salt ocean. You must turn it into an ocean of milk. So spotless is the human heart.
