In plain words
We should not wish, ‘May my Bhārata alone be happy, may it be joyful.’ May all the worlds be happy: all must be happy. All countries must be happy. All peoples must be happy. When you hold so broad a feeling, people will give you respect without being told. On the day you want respect, raise your respect through good words. Show your character through good conduct alone. Through it, they will give you the standing you deserve. When our conduct is not right, our words are not right, our ways are not right, no one will respect us. First of all, we must earn respect through good ways.
Nothing Surpasses Man
Students! Try today to understand what humanness is. No one can recognise the divine power that is in humanness. Whatever powers there are, all those powers are contained in man himself. You are not a human shape. You are the embodiment of the cosmic Virāṭ form. All forms are right within you. All powers are right within you. All qualities are right within you. All the elements are right within you. So why do you lead such humanness onto the wicked path and think it worthless? No. In the Upaniṣads man bears a name that says he is precious. There is no value greater than this. People give value to the diamond. Who gives the diamond its value? Man himself gives it. People give value to land. Who gives it? Man himself gives it. Who gives gold its value? Man himself gives it. And so we praise the value of gold as great, the value of the diamond as great, the value of land as great. No, men are more valuable than all the wealth of the world. There is no other diamond greater than man. How badly we are misusing such humanness! How fully all the sacred ṛṣis of that age made this humanness fruitful!
