In plain words
But man: the proper study of mankind is man. Man is the very form of these three. Today we are forgetting such sacred humanness. Man means: only one who has goodness is man. Such goodness is not something that begins merely from our studies. But man today, modern man, struts about proud that he is educated. What is this education? Are all who have learned to read and write truly educated? Does one become educated by taking college degrees? Can studies that cannot teach true Jñāna be true learning? If learning is only for making a living, do the beasts and birds not live? So what man studies is not for a living. We must develop human values and, through these human values, make our humanness shine forth. Value for Truth, truth is education, education for life, life for man, man for society, society for science, science for spirituality, spirituality for nation, nation for world, world for Peace.
Human Values Alone Are the Root of Śānti and Happiness
Today every man without exception is asking for Śānti, Śānti, Śānti. But this Śānti arises only from human values. If the values themselves are lacking, we cannot find Śānti in human values. That is why human values alone are the root and foundation of our Śānti and happiness. So, unable to recognise the basis of this, man goes on studying. But the studies of today are not for the body. They are not merely for information. Man today thinks that information itself is the goal of education. But this information is not the root cause of humanness. Information Oriented Knowledge. All it is able to do is turn man into the form of a machine. It is turning man into nothing but a computer. But it is not turning him into a composer. For us to become a computer is no greatness; we must become composers. We must pursue this education taking human life alone as its basis.
