Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Without either, you must eat with a calm heart. Before the meal you must not worry about anything. To live a true life in our daily life, we must make a habit of a few helpful ways like these.

Time, action, cause and duty must become one

Embodiments of Prema! People think ‘sādhana, sādhana’, but sādhana is not so easy. They speak of the nine kinds of Bhakti: listening, singing, remembering Viṣṇu, serving His feet, worship, servitude, salutation, friendship, self-offering. To say it is easy. When does self-offering come? Only after friendship has formed. Self-offering does not come before friendship. Until friendship forms, self-offering is not possible. Once there is friendship, self-offering comes. Many do not really know what friendship is. They think friendship means greeting each other, “Hello, hello”. What is this ‘Hello’? Merely saying it with the mouth. There is no meaning in it at all. Friendship means two bodies being as one life. That is what true friendship means; when two bodies hold two feelings, it is no friendship at all. “A man with dual mind is half-blind,” it has been said. When there are two feelings, it becomes dual mind. In this dual mind, how can you contemplate the Paramātma? The children wish to do much sādhana. Because of the śraddhā they show, I wish to tell them. Conduct yourselves without straying from the path. Only when you do not forget the sacred path will a sacred life be yours. You will surely achieve it. Do not waste time. Without knowing it, you are wasting a great deal of time. We must not misuse time. Time itself is our life. “Kālāya namaḥ, Kālakālāya namaḥ, Kālātītāya namaḥ, Kālasvarūpāya namaḥ,” it has been said. All is time; if we defile such time, how will time come back to us? God ordained time so that we might make time worthwhile. If we set feeling on the proper path, actions too must be proper.
