In plain words
So man falls under such an influence and brings danger on himself.
Embodiments of Prema! Prema is something that never dies. Only the Prema that never dies is true Prema. Love that comes and goes is not Prema at all. This body grows and wanes. You think this growing and waning nature of the body is true. It is none of these. This body itself is the root cause of all these illusions. So reduce this attachment to the body, step by step. This alone is right sādhana. Sādhana does not mean doing japa, tapas, yoga and meditation. Whatever I think is true, I must let that truth go. Letting it go is very easy. But I cannot understand why you suffer so much. As long as it is there, we experience joy. But if the breath leaves the body, we grieve without reflecting in the least. Our illusions alone are the root cause of these births and deaths. We must try to give up these illusions. We must reduce attachment to the body to some extent. As we go on reducing and reducing it, this attachment perishes completely. That alone is true sādhana. What is all this sādhana? Do you think sādhana is losing what you have? No, no. Do you think, 'What goes is mine'? That is not it. Neither what is, nor what goes, is yours. Like a dream, those illusions are throwing you into confusion. The root cause of everything is one. Look. So many bulbs are to be seen. If you set about counting them, there are very many. In so many bulbs, the current alone is the main thing. That current alone is true. This coming and going is only the fruit of these illusions.
Embodiments of Prema! Develop Prema. Whomever you see, love them. The one who stands before you is not your enemy. All are there for you to love. You think the one who hated you is not your own. You think, 'Only the one who loved me is my own.' Neither of these is so at all. Your delusions are nothing but illusions that come and go. Today people undertake so many sādhanas, wishing to recognise the principle of God. What are these sādhanas? Is God coming in through this sādhana? Is God going away with these sādhanas? Only illusions are going. Only illusions are coming. So make a fitting effort to get rid of these illusions. Give up the illusion 'I, I'. Only then will there be no fear or alarm of any kind. We think that sitting in meditation and doing japa is practising sādhana. These sādhanas, japas and tapas we do for the sake of our illusion, not for the true Brahman. Give all these up. Keep thinking, 'I myself am God, I myself am God, I myself am God.' You yourself will become God. This body is a garment. It is a garment put on, not a garment born. If you swell this illusion of the body still more, sorrow will grow still more. You need one thing alone. Wherever you look in the world, many people are seen. Are all these who are seen many? Not at all. All are one. That One itself is mother, that One itself is father, that One itself is child, that One itself is younger sister, that One itself is elder sister. We give the names, but it is none of these. So Satya is one alone. We must hold to Satya alone. In that alone Prema becomes a flowing stream. We must stay fixed within the stream of Prema. We must be immersed in it. Whatever the circumstances, just do not change Prema. When anyone hostile to you appears in the bazaar, think, 'He is my own, my younger brother.' If you think, 'This fellow is my enemy', the result has surely come upon you. Everything lies in sacrifice alone. Sacrifice is itself true yoga. Instead of fostering this yoga called sacrifice, we foster the body, which is a disease. So we must foster sacrifice. Only when there is this sacrifice will suffering not come to us. What we must do is not the sādhana that swells illusions. We must do the sādhana that lets illusions go. Day by day, as bodies grow, our illusions keep growing; they are not shrinking. What we must know is one thing, just one.
