Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

I have no refuge other than You. Show Your compassion to me. If I have Your compassion, that is enough for me. I need nothing else,’ so she kept praying. Tyāgarāja too: ‘Rāma! However many ways I pray, why has compassion for me still not come to You? I have offered my all to You and taken refuge in You. Have mercy and protect me,’ he prayed. But merely praying to be protected is not enough; you must offer your heart to God.

Man has a form and a name. But the Ātma has no form and no name. In the world, each person likes a particular form and a particular name. One prays, ‘Rāma!’; another says, ‘Kṛṣṇa!’ In this way each worships the form and name dear to them. Some may not believe in forms and names. The Ātma has no form, yet everyone believes in it. Everyone says, ‘My Ātma itself is my witness,’ don't they! The name that applies to all is Ātma. The Ātma is the divinity beyond form and name. If we truly believe in this principle of the Ātma and worship it, we will surely attain divinity.
