In plain words
Embodiments of Prema!
Because My coming here was a little late, everyone began to have some misgivings. I do not sit idle, with no work to do. For the devotees who were waiting for Me, I stayed right there, satisfied them, and then set out and came. Every single thing I do is the devotees' work alone. There is not one piece of work that is ‘Mine’. I have not come for food and drink. Eating a meal and drinking water, too, are not My work. I merely wet My tongue and go on speaking. However new a car may be, it will not run without petrol, will it!
Today the world behaves in all sorts of ways. In every field, the moral, the physical, that of Dharma, the worldly, the spiritual and the rest, impurity has set in. Looking at this world, turned so strange and bizarre, one has to laugh a great deal, and one feels great pain as well.
Humanness is very sacred. There is no other power greater than humanness. Man must pursue two kinds of education. One is ‘education’, the second is ‘Educare’. ‘Educare’ means the learning that draws out from within. You must make it spring forth from the heart. What one learns by reading books someone has written is ‘education’. But Educare is not like that. It is your own strength. You must do sādhana and bring out what lies within you. Bring out what? It is not taking out all the artificial things hidden away inside. It is bringing out the human values called Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā.
The first is Satya. Who wrote Satya? Who spoke it? Who showed it? It is not something anyone writes. “In the great-souled, mind, word and deed are one.” Only great souls, whose mind, speech and bodily action are one, have been teaching this Satya. Satya is what springs forth from our own heart!
The second is Dharma. Who created it? What is Dharma? What is adharma? If you inquire in this way, Dharma is not something anyone created. “There is no Dharma higher than Satya.” Dharma was born from this very Satya.
The third is Śānti. Ask any millionaire you like, ‘Sir! You have everything, don't you! Are you happy?’ “I have everything, but I have no Śānti,” he answers. Who gives Śānti? It is not something someone gives. It must come from the heart itself. Today, wherever you look in the world, you see ‘pieces’, but you do not see ‘peace’.
The fourth is Prema. Where did this Prema come from? Did Mother give it? Did Father give it? Did any friends, or anyone else, give it? Did anyone give it as a gift? No. Prema was born from you yourself. Prema is your very life. Without Prema, we would not see the world at all.
The fifth is Ahiṃsā. “Ahiṃsā is the foremost Dharma,” taught the Buddha. But today, wherever you look in the world, there is nothing but violence, nothing but violence. Ahiṃsā begins in the heart itself.
Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā come each following upon the other; they are not separate things. In this world these five qualities are nothing but boons from the Paramātma! We must bring them forth and make the proper effort to follow them. That itself is ‘Educare’.
What is the chief quality a man must have? He must speak Satya. Speaking untruth as you please and saying whatever comes into your mouth is not humanness. If, thinking ‘The tongue has no bone, after all,’ you twist it whichever way you like, how can that be Satya!
