Revered sir,

I have your letter too, and by great good fortune I have met Babaji. He is a very great mahāpuruṣa, a wonder, and in these days of unbelief an astonishing sign of the marvellous power of bhakti and yoga. I have taken śaraṇa in him, and he has given me assurance too, which does not fall to everyone’s lot. It is Babaji’s wish that I stay here a few days; he will do me good. So, at this mahāpuruṣa’s bidding, I shall stay here a few days. This will make you glad too, I am sure. I am not writing it in a letter; it is a very wonderful story, and you will hear it when we meet. Unless one sees the līlā of such as these, one’s faith in the śāstras is not complete.

Your servant,

Narendra.

PS. Keep what this letter says a secret.
