Dear one,
I am now living unknown for a while. I shall stay with the French, to learn their language. I am more or less free of care: that is, I have signed the trust deed and all that and sent it to Calcutta; I have kept no right or claim of any kind for myself. You are the owners of everything now; by the Lord's kṛpā you will get all the work done.
I have no great wish left to go wandering about and wear myself to death. Now my aim seems to be to sit somewhere and pass the time with my books. I have picked up some of the French language, but if I live among them for a month or two I shall be able to talk it well.
Give me rest from all the work of preaching, brother. I am apart from all that now; you see to it and carry it on. I am firmly convinced that the Divine Mother will now get a hundred times more work done through you than through me.
Now it is the Divine Mother's will. The rest is Her work; She alone knows. She does not speak out; She ‘stays silent and hidden’; but meanwhile, I see, dhyāna and japa are going on in full measure.
Vivekananda.
