The Lakṣya-lakṣaṇa relation—indicated and indicator—is as follows. In that same example, the words 'that' and 'this,' or their meanings, relinquish their contradictory qualifications of former and present time and stand in the indicated-and-indicator relation with the non-contradictory Devadatta. Likewise, in Tat Tvam Asi, Tat and Tvam, or their meanings, relinquish their contradictory qualifications of remoteness, immediacy and the rest and stand in that relation with non-contradictory Consciousness.
