In plain words

Ajñāna is said to be something positive in nature, indescribable as either existent or non-existent, composed of the three Guṇas, and opposed to Jñāna. This is known from experiences such as “I am ignorant” and from Śruti: “the divine Ātma-Śakti hidden by her own Guṇas.”
