Moreover, here the fruit has the very form of an operation, and an operation is established as having no shape other than that of what operates or of what is made to operate. And since works by the strength of , and has the word for its life, and the word works on a single bare untouched by other , those in the form of space, time and the rest, as in “pot” or “red”, it follows that works on an that behaves as a universal, because the of space and time, which lean towards bestowing the state of a , are not mixed in. For even the appearance “this” is about the bare appearance of a thing standing in front, unmixed with other . So the venerable master himself has said:
“Even about a particular thing standing in front, the ‘this’ arises only through the universal this-ness that is found in all things.”
So the real thing is the bare alone. The , though, is one further , quite other, whose form is the of those sharing a common ground; and on it there is a of its own, quite separate. Beyond that, what grasps again what was already grasped in those once they are mixed is not : this will come further on. Determination, as we have said, is quickened by the word and rests on each ; so one who says that validity too depends on it must accept that validity rests on each alone. But let that be: what use is a digression? But if is the working of , then it is there in the double moon too? Not so. For through being joined with it carries itself on up to the gaining of the effective action that is wanted and well known, its working never uprooted, and it is by being stable that it becomes such. If, though, it suffers uprooting midway, then it is not of that kind. This was not even before, because in one single inward-facing form it was uprooted from the start; and here one’s own awareness is the witness. At that very moment, in “this is not silver”, one is aware of the that had already taken place being made into no .
And this has been said in the inquiry into cancelling, and it will be said
