In plain words
Take every womb there is, Kaunteya — gods, ancestors, human beings, cattle, the creatures of the forest, all the rest of them. Whatever forms come out of those wombs, forms shaped as bodies, limbs and parts thickened into something you can touch — for every one of those forms the great brahman, present through all states, is the womb, the cause. And I, the Lord, am the one who places the seed. I do the conceiving. I am the father.
Close to the Sanskrit
In all the wombs — of gods, ancestors, humans, cattle, wild animals and the rest — O son of Kuntī, whatever forms come into being, forms marked by the configuration of a body, forms whose limbs and parts have hardened into shape: of those forms, the great brahman, present in all states, is the womb, the cause; and I, the Lord, am the giver of the seed, the performer of the impregnation, the father.
