Bhagavadgītābhāṣyam

In plain words

And here is how you can tell rajas has taken over —

Lobha is the itch to take what belongs to someone else. Pravṛtti is being pushed into motion — generalized restless doing. Ārambha — of what? Of works, of new projects. Aśama is never settling: elation, attachment and the rest keep welling up. Spṛhā is thirst that fixes on nothing in particular and wants everything. When rajas, the guṇa, has swelled, these are the marks that appear, Arjuna, bull among the Bharatas.

Close to the Sanskrit

This is the sign of rajas when it has arisen [i.e. become predominant] —

Lobha is the wish to take another's property. Pravṛtti is being set in motion, general exertion. Ārambha — of what? Of actions. Aśama is non-subsiding, the surging of elation, attachment and the like. Spṛhā is thirst whose object is everything indiscriminately. When rajas, the guṇa, has grown strong, these marks arise, O bull among the Bharatas.
