In plain words

Right through to the end of this chapter, the demonic disposition is being laid out for you -- not as an abstract idea but as something that marks particular people. Once you can see it clearly, in the open, you can let it go.

Pravrtti -- engagement -- means setting out to do what should be done, in pursuit of a genuine human good; that's pravrtti. Nivrtti -- its opposite -- means pulling back from whatever causes real harm; that's nivrtti. Demonic people simply don't know either one. And it isn't only these two they're blind to: purity isn't in them, decent conduct isn't in them, truthfulness isn't in them. They are unclean, ill-behaved, full of deceit, and habitual liars -- that is what it means to be demonic.

Close to the Sanskrit

Up to the completion of the chapter, the demonic disposition is being shown as a characteristic of particular living beings, and by making it directly perceptible, it becomes possible to accomplish its avoidance --

'Pravrtti' -- that is, engagement -- that on which one engages, as a means to a human end, in what is to be done: that is pravrtti; and 'nivrtti' -- the opposite of this, that from which, being the cause of harm, one should withdraw: that is nivrtti -- these, demonic people do not know, do not understand. It is not only pravrtti and nivrtti that they fail to know; purity does not exist in them, nor conduct, nor truth; demonic beings are impure, of bad conduct, deceitful, and speakers of untruth.
