In plain words

If you want to be freed from these, you must try to discover where they spring from. Then you will know that the senses, and the mind that follows the senses, are what kāma and krodha rest on. That is precisely why the elders teach control of the senses. Men give the mind and the intellect over to the vāsanās for sense objects, which perish in a moment, and let them roam the outer world through the senses; so they fall into unrest and drift far from holy Praśānti. Man builds a mansion of the gale on the sands of life, believes that very mansion is lasting, and turns into a man of ignorance. No object in the world is lasting: not a single one of them stays with man! To know that all these are mirages, that they deceive man's intellect, delude it and plunge it into despair: that itself is the first step of spirituality.

Śānti of mind is vital for everyone; what wealth, pride, power and bodily strength bring is unrest, not Śānti! If you want Śānti, the thought of God, and that alone, is the right means to it.

Some people teach that you must set about ‘the search for Satya’. Satya itself is your own svarūpa, so there is no need to search for it; recognising it is enough; it becomes plain that you are Satya itself. You must set about making Satya manifest, but the search is needless.
