Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

How can that wine, which makes you forget your very humanity, carry you to divinity? At first, man is the one who drinks the wine! The wine he has drunk craves more and more wine, wine alone, and drinks more and more! In the end, the wine drinks up the man. This is the sad tale of drinking: the bottle goes in! After that, the very one who drank it is caught inside that bottle and, unable to get out, he suffers. That is the story.

The prophecy

There is one more important matter I wanted to bring to your mind. At the time Jesus was leaving His body and merging in the principle of the Ātma, He spoke a word to one of His followers, one called John, before He went. Commentators who have swelled the writings, spinning many meanings for that word along many different lines, have made a great problem of it, so that its very truth has sunk out of sight. But its true meaning is perfectly clear.

“Even if I go, you need not grieve; when time and causes fall into place, the very One who created Me will come again; He will descend into the world,” said Christ. Pointing to a lamb that was there, He said, “He will come with this name (LAMB).” That is, not as the animal called LAMB; what is the sound a lamb makes? Bā bā, BA BA, is it not? The meaning is that He will come with the name Bābā, in this form. And Jesus told him the details too: that the name of that Avatāra would be Satya (TRUTH), that He would be short, that He would have a crown of thick hair, that He would wear a red, blood-coloured robe (blood red robe), (and so on); then Jesus vanished.
