In the culture of Bhārata, this Hindu land is of the very greatest importance to the principle of Advaita. Between this principle of Advaita, which shines in this Hindu land, and other religions, many kinds of difference become clear to us. Among these, still greater differences are seen between the Western religions and the religions of Bhārata. In the religion of the Westerners, of these three, the body, the mind and the intellect, the intellect is given the chief place, and they go on striving for the growth of their religion. But the culture of Bhārata divides these four, the body, the mind, the intellect and the citta, as the characteristics of the antaḥkaraṇa, sets the Ātma apart in a special seat of authority, and has gone on teaching also the harmony that there is no difference at all between the Ātma and the Paramātma. Yet in Bhārata too, many religions have arisen today, and through them people are setting about even changing this culture with many kinds of ideas. However many religions there may be, every religion keeps teaching that we should speak Satya, that we must not hatch plots, that we should honour our parents, that we should give the gurus the place due to them; but not one religion sets about teaching that we should dishonour our parents, cheat the gurus or speak Asatya. All religions, every one, are thrown into turmoil with differing opinions only about God, who is not known; but about morality and honesty, which are known, not one religion gives any room to differing opinions. Yet today people cast aside only those eternal truths the religions teach, bring in the injustice, wrongdoing, bad conduct and Asatya that the religion does not speak of, and go on acting as though this very thing were the goal of their life.
