In plain words
But all through these days of the month, whatever difficulties may arise, even if there are no proper facilities, I hope that you will set firmly in your hearts the truth that we were born solely to offer our life to the land of Bhārata and took on this body to uphold the good name of this Bhārata, and that, not wavering at all, not confused by these hardships, losses and difficulties, you will bring this feeling, true in its very form, into your lives.
Peace in life by holding the passions in check
“My country is Bhārata, my religion is the religion of Bhārata, my very life is offered to Bhārata”: in this spirit, keeping the service of the country foremost in our sight and keeping the ancient, eternal culture of the country in the seat of our heart, you must through that be ready to shape your conduct so that it is pure. Only when we subdue the passions will our life be supremely calm. If, even while we have bodily, mental and spiritual strength, we are weaklings who cannot check such small, petty passions, then trying to check them later in old age will bear no fruit. So education means the control of our senses, the purity of our feelings, the cleanness of the citta; to lead us onto the sacred path: this, precisely, is the right meaning of education.
When the clouds gather in the sky and move about, as lightning shines close beside them, so behind education Jñāna must shine forth; the one who earns it, he alone is a student.
The one who earns Jñāna, he alone is a true student.
Leave the madness of education for the sake of degrees, do not go and join a servant's calling; seek the prosperity and welfare of your own country, and set about giving your life in sacrifice.
